An air fryer cooks with hot air instead of a pan of oil. So your food turns crispy with little or no oil, and your home doesn't smell of the deep fryer. But air fryers differ a lot. These questions help you pick the right one.
How much capacity do you need?
For one or two people, a smaller capacity is enough, like the ClearFry or the SpaceFry. Cooking for a family, or want to cook a whole chicken? Go for more litres: the SteamFry holds 7 L, and the TwoFry and SuperFry have two compartments of 5 and 5.5 L.
One dish or two at once?
With a dual air fryer, you make fries and chicken at the same time, each at its own temperature and time. On the TwoFry, the baskets sit side by side and SYNC makes sure they're ready together. On the SuperFry, the tiers are stacked, so it takes up less width on your worktop. There, Smart Finish makes sure everything lands on the table at the same time.
Coating or glass?
Most air fryers have a basket with a non-stick coating. The ClearFry cooks in glass bowls, with no coating, and you can watch your food crisp up all round. The SuperFry has a PFAS-free non-stick coating.
Steam, window or flat?
The SteamFry combines hot air with steam, so meat, fish and vegetables stay juicy. The window lets you keep an eye on things without opening the drawer. The SpaceFry is a flat air fryer with a 30 cm cooking surface and heat from above and below: ideal for pizza, and no need to shake.
What else should you look for?
Think about the space on your worktop, how easy the basket or bowl is to clean, and which programmes you'll actually use. Still not sure? Take the air fryer check above, or compare two models side by side.
