Slush and ice cream are alike, but the machines work differently. A slush machine freezes your drink while it churns. An ice cream maker turns a mixture you freeze first into ice cream. So first choose what you want to make.
In short: the Seeger SuperSlush is a slush machine for anyone who wants slush, milkshakes or frozen cocktails on tap, without ice cubes. The SuperSlush Twin is the same slush machine with two tanks, for anyone who wants two flavours at once. The MultiCream is an ice cream maker for home with ten programmes, for anyone who wants to make ice cream, gelato, sorbet or frozen yoghurt. The CompactCream is a small ice cream maker for anyone who wants ice cream, sorbet or slush and puts it away in the cupboard after use.
Making slush without ice cubes
Looking for a slushie maker for home, for slush like you know from a slush puppy? With the SuperSlush you pour your drink into the tank and choose a programme on the touchscreen. InstantFreeze freezes your drink inside the machine itself, so you don't need ice cubes or a freezer. After 15 to 20 minutes you already have slush; exactly how long depends on the drink. Just unpacked it? Then let the SuperSlush or the Twin stand for 2 hours first.
What goes in? Juice, soft drinks, iced tea, squash, milk or your cocktail mix. It needs at least 6% sugar: without sugar the mixture freezes into hard ice instead of slush. So diet and zero drinks won't work. Don't add ice cubes or just water, and fill between the MIN and MAX lines. With seven programmes you can also make milkshakes, frappés and frozen cocktails (4 to 16% alcohol).
One flavour or two: SuperSlush or Twin
These two slush machines work the same way; only the number of tanks is different. The SuperSlush has one tank of 2 litres. The Twin has two tanks of 2 litres, each with its own programme. So you can make slush for the kids and a frozen cocktail for the grown-ups at the same time. The Twin keeps your drinks cold for up to 12 hours, the SuperSlush for up to 4 hours.
Ice cream maker for home
With an ice cream maker for home you make ice cream from your own ingredients. With the MultiCream you fill a 500 ml EasyCup, put the lid on and place it in the freezer for 24 hours. Then the MultiCream uses SmartSpin to turn it into creamy ice cream in a few minutes. It comes with three EasyCups, so you can easily have three flavours ready. The ten programmes range from ice cream and gelato to milkshakes and smoothie bowls. Mix-in swirls toppings through your ice cream, and Re-spin makes it creamier.
Making sorbet and frozen yoghurt
To make sorbet, fill the cup with fruit or juice and choose the Sorbet programme. Purée the fruit first or mix it with juice: it can't spin loose frozen pieces or ice cubes. To make frozen yoghurt, put yoghurt in the cup, with some fruit stirred through if you like, and choose Frozen Yogurt.
Starting small: CompactCream
The CompactCream is smaller than the MultiCream and makes ice cream, gelato, sorbet, slush and frozen drinks, with five programmes. It comes with three 350 ml cups that stack in the freezer. For all five types, slush included, the cup goes in the freezer for 24 hours first. After that, most recipes are ready in 1 to 3 minutes. After use it goes back in the cupboard or drawer. Want more programmes, or Mix-in and Re-spin? Then go for the MultiCream.
Cleaning
Unplug the appliance first. The part with the motor never goes under water.
- SuperSlush and Twin: with AutoClean. Add water to the tank, press start and it rinses itself. Removable parts can also go in the dishwasher, without the heated dry setting.
- MultiCream: with the Clean function. The EasyCups and lids can go in the dishwasher.
- CompactCream: the cups and lids can go in the dishwasher. Rinse the blade unit under the tap.
